July began with a trip to the New York tri-state area and a visit with Ron, Grandma and Grandpa and Jon who came north to visit. While there, we saw the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons defeat the Columbus Clippers and discovered that Joey really wanted to go to the ballpark, bust mostly for the snacks. The boys stayed for three weeks while Michael stayed for one and then went back to Oregon for two weeks to spend time with Pam and do some hiking (Scott and his dog joined us for some of it). Meanwhile, the boys attended Fawn Hill Day Camp, Aaron practiced piano with Grandma and Joey may or may not have contributed some carrots to an injured Fawn with Grandpa.
Upon our return to Oregon, we took a trip to the Evergreen Aviation Museum where we stood in and under the Spruce Goose as well as an SR-71 Blackbird and played on some tanks in the back behind the museum. We also decided to see the double 'A' Portland Beavers at PGE Park.
Michael and the boys continue doing TaeKwonDo a few times a week (when Michael's not injured anyway) and Aaron and Joey just started learning to ride two-wheel bicycles (Aaron got it down for solos on only the second outing!)
Highlights of holidays were that during Yom Kippur Aaron got to hold and carry a real torah for the youth service and Joey opened and closed the door to the Aron during Rosh Hashanah. The boys also both got plastic Shofars and participated in the traditional practice of all the kids in shull doing a tekia G'dolah at the end of the holidays.
