Month O' BBQs and a trip around the world
Michael finally made it to Bangalore India to meet in person with the half of his colleagues that work there. On the weekend he visited Mysore, which has a palace that's a major tourist attraction. While it's not too far away from Bangalore in kilometers, it takes awhile to get there as you must weave in and out of the three-wheeled scooters, Ox drawn carts and other traffic along relatively narrow highways. The concentration required to make sure you keep moving without hitting anyone is why one typically rent cars with drivers provided.
After a night of bowling with most of the team in Bangalore, Michael took a quick and unplanned 'side' trip to Penang Malaysia. Met more of the people he's only known as voices on the phone in the past and had a tour of one of Intel's warehouses, which had tougher security checks that the airport!
Meanwhile Andrew, Pam's brother had joined us for a couple of weeks and was a tremendous help. the kids love hanging out with their Shau Jo.
Upon Michael's return it was time for the 'Month of Barbecues!' First it was the Peterkort Neighborhood annual picnic, with all sorts of food and games, including the big water balloon fight and Bingo in Spanish.
Next weekend it was the annual 105th Terrace dead-end barbecue. And finally the get together with all the 'old gang' that started as the New College grads at Intel in the early 90s and now includes many spouses and children.
Somewhere in there Michael's group at work also had a Face-To-Face meeting in Oregon, including our team members from Asia.
Next month: Joey and Aaron's first day at PJA and Uncle Jon's visit.
